Vacations often go along with tourist guides especially if you’re unfamiliar with the place. There are things to consider during a vacation. Will you go alone or with a family? Do you know your destination well? Travel agencies offer tourist guides if you’ll book for their vacation packages. It is up to the consumer to decide whether he/she would decide on a tour guide for the trip. But is paying extra for the tour guide worth it?
Tour guides assist you in your travel needs. They are mostly locals of the area. They are knowledgeable about a country’s culture, attractions, accommodations, and restaurants. In short, they guide you to every tourist destination in a certain country. Tour guides implement daily schedule of activities. They will instruct you about the departure time of the bus or rented car, the time to eat, and the places to be visited. They are precise in setting up schedule so that tourists could meet the scheduled activities of the day. They are prompt to the schedule resulting to exhausted tourists. Leaving early in the morning and returning late at night would deprive tourists from sleep. Tour guides also limit time in venturing out a tourist spot. You couldn’t discover all interesting views in a matter of one hour. Their maximum viewing time is mostly 30 minutes to 1 hour. The attractions they guide you are mostly spots viewed by many people. The deep and fascinating areas of the place would be disregarded.
Traveling alone is better in such a way that you get to explore the place on your own. You’ll discover new things without any limitations. You’re free to do what you want even if it means shopping all day in the city’s street. You can wake up as long as you want without the hassle of waiting for the tour bus. Traveling with guide tours doesn’t guarantee 100% safety for you and your family. Reports have shown that children were killed in a vacation with tour guides. Tour agencies should provide security for travelers with children. Safety should always be at top priority.
Tour guides also has advantages to travelers. Planned schedule will prevent you from worrying too much about what activities to accomplish each day of your vacation period. Navigation would be easy because tour guides are there to lead you. If you’re in a country with a different language, then tour guides can be translators to communicate with the locals. Tour guides will be assisting travelers when they check in and out of the hotel. Since guided tours are usually by group, you interact with other people and make new friends.
It is up to you to decide whether or not to consider having guided tours. Are you an adventure lover? Then guided tours are not meant for you. If you just want to relax and follow a schedule, then you might want a tour guide for your trip.
