Snorkeling in the Giant Clam Sanctuary in Camiguin, Philippines is interesting and ecologically sound. For about $6 to $8, you can go snorkeling for an hour or so. Going to the area is a bit difficult due to the narrow road and the sign along the main road is not that visible. Asking the locals for directions is a must and riding a motorbike is a great option. They have more than a hundred clams in the area. The guides are accommodating and informative. Observing the giant clams is really astonishing. They react on your movements and close their shells with lightning speed. When you approach more carefully, or wait a few seconds while the clam opens again, you can observe the breathing and other movements. Be careful no to touch the opening of the clams because it closes abruptly and this may harm you. Mangrove trees also dwell around the beaches. The sanctuary is actually ran by a private sector and they only acquire maintenance from tourists fees.
